Galicia: Home to the Hórreos!

Once you enter Galicia, you begin to see amazing wood or stone granaries know as hórreros. These storage structures for grains and food over the winter months have been used for centuries in Galicia, northern Portugal, and Asturias. No two seem to be identical. Some more artfully decorated than others, but all serving a similar historical function of helping the local people get through the more difficult winter months in Iberia.
