Hervé, I’ll Never Tire Seeing The Pilgrims Coming Into Town
Seated just across from the side entrance of the Burgos Cathedral, this couple endlessly greets pilgrims arriving in the city. I had the impression that these two were there to personally welcome me to one of the great cathedrals in Europe. Burgos is also one of those places where pilgrims might choose to spend a rest day. Following the typical Brierely stages, I had been on the trail a full twelve days by the time I reached Burgos. Arriving early in the afternoon at the Albergue Santiago y Santa Catalina gave me plenty of time to visit the cathedral (a discounted admission available to pilgrims) and check out some good tapas restaurants for dinner. With an extra day here, I’d certainly include a visit to the Museum of Human Evolution.
